Vinnie Anderson has a clear goal for his volleyball future: to compete at the Division I level. The Christian Brothers student-athlete and Class of 2030 libero, who also plays for SFV 15-1, points to his faith as the motivation behind that ambition.

Anderson’s position puts him at the center of the defensive side of the game. A libero’s responsibilities demand quick reactions, controlled passing and the ability to read an opponent’s attack. Every serve received and rally extended can give a team another opportunity to build its offense.

It is a role where the details carry considerable weight. Positioning, communication and a dependable first contact help establish the rhythm of a match. For a young player pursuing college volleyball, developing those skills represents an important part of the road ahead.

Anderson’s Division I goal gives that development a long-term direction. The coming years offer opportunities to gain experience, sharpen his defensive game and better understand the responsibilities that come with his position. Turning an ambitious goal into a realistic opportunity will require continued growth as the level of competition increases.

His faith adds a personal dimension to that pursuit. When describing what motivates him, Anderson identifies it as a central influence in his athletic journey. Alongside his college aspirations, it is one of the clearest parts of the story he wants to tell.

As a member of the Class of 2030, Anderson is still writing the early chapters of his volleyball career. With ties to Christian Brothers and SFV 15-1, he has a clear focus for what comes next: developing his game in the back row while working toward a future on a Division I court.

Vaanya Behl, a Class of 2031 student at Golden Hills School, is quickly establishing herself as a promising young talent in competitive junior golf. With an impressive collection of tournament accomplishments and a growing presence on the national junior golf circuit, Behl continues to demonstrate the skill, discipline, and determination necessary to compete at a high level.

Already ranked No. 90 worldwide in her graduating class according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, Behl has built a competitive résumé that reflects both her consistency and her ability to perform against talented competition.

Among her most notable achievements is a second-place finish at the Notah Begay Regional Championship in Phoenix, Arizona. She also captured the U.S. Kids Golf Regional Championship at the Monterey Challenge, adding a significant tournament victory to her growing list of accomplishments.

Behl has continued to find success across multiple competitive events, earning a top-five finish on the Junior Tour of Northern California, winning the girls’ 12–18 division at The Ridge First Tee Tournament, and securing fourth place at the Tiger Woods Invitational.

These performances highlight the progress Behl has made throughout her junior golf career and demonstrate her ability to compete successfully in a variety of tournament environments.

Despite her early accomplishments, Behl remains focused on the development of her game rather than allowing past results to define her future. She approaches competition as an opportunity to challenge herself, gain valuable experience, and identify areas where she can continue improving.

Her passion for golf is driven by the competitive nature of the sport and the constant pursuit of personal improvement. Each tournament presents a new challenge, motivating her to refine her skills and become a more complete player.

Looking ahead, Behl hopes to continue progressing through the junior golf ranks and eventually earn the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. With several years remaining before graduation, she has valuable time to further develop her abilities, strengthen her tournament résumé, and prepare for increasingly competitive opportunities.

For Behl, the journey is about more than individual victories or rankings. It is about maintaining a commitment to improvement, embracing the challenges of competition, and discovering how far her dedication can take her.

With multiple tournament victories, strong finishes in prestigious junior events, and recognition among the top-ranked golfers in her graduating class, Vaanya Behl has already laid an impressive foundation for her future.

As she continues her development, the Golden Hills School standout is positioning herself as a young golfer to watch in the years ahead.

For Rocklin High School freshman Wyatt Zeki, football is about more than making plays. It’s about maximizing every opportunity, improving each day, and building a foundation for a future at the collegiate level.

A member of the Class of 2030, Zeki is already making an impact at tight end during his first high school football season. Throughout the 2026 season, Zeki has recorded 183 receiving yards and two touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to contribute in important moments.

His first touchdown came in Rocklin’s season opener against Turlock, when he delivered a game-winning score. He later added another touchdown against Folsom, continuing to establish himself as a young offensive weapon.

For a freshman competing at the high school level, these early performances represent promising steps in his development. Zeki understands that success as a student-athlete requires dedication in the classroom as well.

Maintaining a 3.5 GPA, he continues to prioritize academics while balancing the demands of football.

His commitment reflects the discipline necessary to pursue opportunities at the next level. Zero has two primary goals: making his name known throughout the football community and becoming 1% better every day.

His motivation comes from understanding that his opportunities to play the game are limited. With every practice and every game, Zeki recognizes the importance of making the most of his time on the field.

That perspective drives his ambition to eventually compete in college football. With three high school seasons still ahead of him, Zeki has time to continue developing his skills, expanding his role in Rocklin’s offense, and building his reputation.

His freshman production, academic commitment, and determination to improve have provided an encouraging starting point. For Wyatt Zeki, the mission is simple: make every opportunity count and keep working toward the next level.

For Laguna Creek High School senior Messiah Glass, a successful season means helping his team compete for a league championship and earn a playoff spot while preparing for his own future beyond high school.

The 6-foot Class of 2027 combo guard plays both point guard and shooting guard. Glass averaged seven points per game on the EHA circuit and made 11 three-pointers across 14 games last season. As he works toward playing college basketball, he is focused on improving and making the most of each opportunity.

“I know nothing is handed to you, so I try to stay focused, keep working, and take advantage of every opportunity,” Glass said.

His motivation comes from his love for basketball, his family and the people who support him. Being counted out gives him another reason to work harder, but the reputation he wants to build extends beyond scoring.

Glass wants his work ethic, character and performance to speak for him. He takes pride in respecting those around him and strives to set a positive example for his family and community.

That approach carries into the classroom. Glass has received academic scholarship opportunities from colleges and values education as an important part of his future. Alongside his goal of playing at the next level, he wants to earn a degree and prepare for a career beyond basketball.

For his final high school season, those ambitions come with a clear team priority: help Laguna Creek win and put itself in position to compete in the postseason.

What began as a family introduction to golf at Foothills Golf Course has taken Ellie Kilohana Echeverria across the United States—and this year, to a third-place finish in Ireland.

A fourth grader at St. Albans Country Day School and member of the Class of 2035, Ellie started playing at six years old after her grandmother, Terry, introduced Ellie and her father to the game. Her ability to watch and replicate movements helped her pick up the swing, but the opportunity to keep improving is what has held her interest.

With support from her coaches, Ellie has worked on her swing fundamentals, putting and course management. She enjoys the challenge of bringing those pieces together, knowing that even a small improvement can give her something new to build on.

That work has produced a successful 2026 season. Ellie earned a top-five finish at the AZ Desert Shootout at Wigwam, became the Truckee Tahoe Junior Tour champion and finished in the top three during the Central Valley Tour’s spring season. She has also recorded a personal-best score of 36.

Her first international tournament brought another highlight: third place at the Irish Open at Mount Wolseley. The trip offered more than competition. With Irish ancestry in her family, Ellie had the opportunity to connect with her roots while experiencing another country and learning about its culture.

For Ellie, motivation often comes from seeing practice turn into progress. Improving a shot, applying a coach’s advice or getting stronger through Dynamic Training in Rocklin gives her evidence that her effort matters. Encouragement from fellow golfers at the driving range also makes an impression. Hearing people compliment her swing and encourage her to keep playing strengthens her confidence.

She finds that same support among the talented junior girl golfers in her area. Practice rounds and tournaments give Ellie opportunities to enjoy those friendships while challenging herself alongside players who push her to improve.

Looking ahead, Ellie wants to develop both the physical and mental sides of her game. She hopes to visit more courses, take on difficult layouts and eventually attend a high school that supports her golf aspirations. Her long-term goal is to earn a college golf scholarship.

Her ambitions extend beyond the course. Ellie is nearing a black belt in taekwondo, hopes to join a cross-country team after completing her first 5K this year and plans to play flag football this winter.

Away from sports, she enjoys drawing, building Legos and beating her dad in video games. Golf has already opened the door to new places and friendships, and Ellie is eager to see where continued improvement takes her next.

Behind those goals is a support system he values. Scowcroft credits his teammates, coaches and parents as his biggest sources of motivation, pushing him to train and race hard. Their encouragement is an important part of his experience as a Ponderosa runner.

Away from competition, Scowcroft enjoys hiking and spending time with friends. Running remains a central part of his senior year, with three clear targets giving purpose to the work ahead.

Abigail Hong is making her first high school golf season count. The Granite Bay freshman and Class of 2030 varsity golfer has recorded 11 wins in 2026, building a résumé that includes success at the league level and experience on an international stage.

One of her strongest performances came at high school leagues, where Hong shot an under-par 71 to finish first in a field of 48 girls. Earning a varsity spot as a freshman was an early achievement. Finishing atop that leaderboard gave her another result to build on.

Hong carries a 0.0 handicap and a scoring average of 74, with drives that reach 250 yards. Those numbers reflect a game that combines distance off the tee with the ability to consistently score in the low-to-mid 70s.

Her accomplishments this year include earning Peggy Dodds Overall Girls Champion honors and qualifying for the Optimist International Championship, where she secured a top-20 finish. She also placed third in a long-drive competition featuring an international field of 50 girls.

Hong has clear ambitions for where golf can take her. She hopes to compete at the NCAA Division I level and eventually play on the LPGA Tour. With her high school career just beginning, those goals give her a direction as she continues developing her game.

“I just try to help the people around me get better too,” Chafer said.

After high school, he hopes to take on marathons and ultramarathons, extending the running journey he began in 2024. For now, his focus remains on the opportunities in front of him: finishing his 1,000-mile year, contributing across his sports and becoming a better student, athlete and teammate.
