With 10 years of cheer experience, Oak Ridge sophomore Ava Eppard is building on a journey that already includes a state championship and a national runner-up finish.
Eppard, a Class of 2029 varsity cheerleader who specializes as a backspot, earned her varsity spot as a sophomore. During her freshman year, she became a STUNT state champion and helped her team finish second at UCA High School Nationals.
Those accomplishments have strengthened her desire to continue competing. Her long-term goal is to cheer at a Division I university and pursue the sport that has been part of her life for a decade.
Behind that ambition is a support system that keeps her focused. Eppard credits her coaches, teammates and family with encouraging her, challenging her and holding her to Oak Ridge’s standard of excellence. Their belief in her inspires her to stay dedicated and give her best.
Currently recovering from shoulder surgery, Eppard is approaching this chapter with patience and positivity. She remains focused on her recovery while keeping her collegiate goals in sight. She says the setback has strengthened her motivation to overcome challenges and continue improving.
For Eppard, the next step begins with the same commitment that helped her reach varsity: embracing the support around her and staying dedicated to her goals. With championship experience behind her and collegiate aspirations ahead, she is determined to keep building her future in cheer.
