Destiny Christian Academy running back Ben Arthur has his sights set on playing Division I football, but the Class of 2028 student-athlete says his motivation goes far beyond the game itself.
“My motivation comes from more than just football,” Arthur said. “It comes from my community, my family, my coaches, my teammates, and everyone who has poured into me and helped me get to where I am today.”
Arthur has seen people close to him carry similar dreams without always having the opportunity to pursue them as far as they wanted. That perspective has shaped the way he views his own opportunities.
“There are people close to me who had the same dreams and aspirations I have now, but because of circumstances outside of their control, they weren’t able to take their dreams as far as they wanted,” Arthur said.
Rather than taking his situation for granted, Arthur sees it as a responsibility.
“I have the support, the knowledge, and the tools around me,” he said. “Now it’s my responsibility to put everything I’ve been given into action and make something out of it.”
Loyalty is another value Arthur considers central to who he is.
“Loyalty means everything to me,” Arthur said. “I’m loyal to my coaches, my teammates, and the people who have believed in me from the beginning.”
That loyalty also influences the type of teammate and leader he wants to become. Arthur said he understands what it feels like to lack support, and because of that, he wants to make sure the people around him never feel the same way.
“I know what it feels like to feel like you have nobody in your corner, so I make it a priority to be that person for the people around me,” Arthur said. “I want to push my teammates every day, hold them accountable, encourage them, and help them become better men both on and off the field.”
Arthur also takes pride in his work ethic and says his motivation is rooted in self-improvement rather than outside validation.
“I don’t train, compete, or chase my goals for other people’s opinions or approval,” Arthur said. “I do it because I refuse to settle for being the same player or person I was yesterday.”
His approach is centered on consistent progress.
“I want to wake up every day and get better—faster, stronger, smarter, more disciplined, and more prepared,” Arthur said.
Arthur understands that reaching the Division I level will require difficult work, sacrifice and consistency.
“I know where I want to go, and I understand that the work required to get there won’t always be easy or comfortable,” he said. “I’m willing to embrace that work, stay consistent, and keep pushing when nobody is watching.”
For Arthur, however, the ultimate goal extends beyond earning a college football opportunity.
“My goal is bigger than just making it to the next level,” Arthur said. “I want to become someone my younger self would be proud of, someone my community can be proud of, and someone my teammates know they can count on.”
Arthur is chasing Division I football, but he wants the process to shape far more than his athletic career.
“I’m chasing D1 football, but every step along the way is about becoming a better athlete, teammate, leader, and man.”
