With an impressive 38-inch vertical jump, an MVP award already to his name, and aspirations of competing at the collegiate level, Cosumnes Oaks High School sophomore Blake Swann is building a promising future in volleyball while pursuing his passion for surfing.
A member of the Class of 2029, Swann competes as an outside hitter, a position that demands athleticism, versatility, and the ability to make an impact on both sides of the net. His explosive jumping ability is one of the standout physical attributes he brings to the court, providing a strong foundation as he continues developing his game.
During the 2025–26 season, Swann earned MVP honors at John F. Kennedy, an accomplishment that reflects his potential as a young athlete. Now at Cosumnes Oaks, he is focused on continuing his development and preparing for opportunities beyond high school.
Swann’s ambitions extend in two exciting directions. He hopes to continue his volleyball career at UOH, but he also has aspirations of becoming a professional surfer. Both paths reflect his passion for athletics and his willingness to pursue opportunities that challenge him.
While individual accomplishments and future goals are important, Swann believes the relationships he has developed through volleyball are among the most valuable parts of his athletic journey.
“Volleyball has connected me with hundreds of wonderful people that I would not have met if it weren’t for this sport,” Swann said.
His friends, family, and the people he has met through competition serve as his greatest sources of motivation. For Swann, volleyball has provided more than an opportunity to compete. It has introduced him to a community of teammates, coaches, and fellow athletes who have helped shape his experience.
That appreciation for others also reflects the kind of person Swann strives to be away from competition. He describes himself as friendly and approachable, encouraging others not to hesitate to introduce themselves or start a conversation.
As he progresses through his sophomore year at Cosumnes Oaks, Swann has plenty of time to continue refining his abilities and working toward his long-term aspirations. Whether his future takes him to a collegiate volleyball court or into the world of professional surfing, his combination of athletic ability, ambition, and appreciation for the people around him gives him a meaningful foundation for the journey ahead.
For Blake Swann, success is not measured solely by awards or athletic achievements, but also by the relationships, experiences, and opportunities that come from pursuing what he loves.
