After spending an entire season away from competition, Brad Slater has no shortage of motivation as he prepares for his opportunity at Granite Bay High School.
Slater, a member of the Class of 2029, was forced to miss all of last season because of transfer eligibility rules. For a young athlete eager to compete and develop, watching from the sidelines presented a different kind of challenge. Instead of allowing the lost season to slow his progress, Slater has turned the experience into motivation.
Missing a full year of competition gave him an added appreciation for every opportunity he now has to practice, improve and compete. It also strengthened his focus on where he ultimately wants the game to take him.
Slater’s long-term goal is to play at the collegiate level, and he understands that reaching that point will require continued development throughout his high school career. With several years ahead of him at Granite Bay, he has time to build his game and establish himself within the program.
For Slater, however, the motivation remains rooted in the season he never had the chance to play. After spending a year waiting for his opportunity, the Granite Bay athlete is determined to make the most of the ones ahead.
