Oakmont High School guard Daiveon Parker is entering the next stage of his high school career with bigger goals, added experience and a desire to establish himself as one of the area’s rising basketball players.
Parker, a member of the Class of 2028, has already spent two seasons at the varsity level. Playing shooting guard, he averaged 10.3 points, 1.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game last season while scoring 289 total points.
With another season ahead, Parker has set high expectations for both himself and Oakmont. Individually, he is working toward earning First Team All-League honors and putting himself in contention for league MVP. His goals extend beyond personal recognition, however, as he hopes to help Oakmont capture another league championship and make a strong run into the section playoffs.
Long term, Parker’s goal is to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level. He credits his motivation to the time and effort he has consistently invested into developing his game and becoming a better player.
That work has also given Parker something to prove entering the new season. He wants opponents, coaches and basketball fans throughout the area to become familiar with what he can bring to the court.
“This season I want people to know who I really am and to get my name out there,” Parker said.
With varsity experience already behind him and ambitious goals ahead, Parker enters the season determined to turn his preparation into production and help lead Oakmont toward another successful year.
