There was a time when De’Anthony Williams struggled to shoot from beyond the arc. Now, the Class of 2028 shooting guard considers his outside shot one of his biggest accomplishments.
Williams reports averaging approximately 10.5 points, six rebounds and two assists per game while shooting around 50% from three. For the 6-foot-4 guard, that shooting percentage represents progress he takes pride in, especially as his perimeter game begins earning recognition.
His offensive approach extends beyond the three-point line. Williams describes a game built around attacking the basket and creating space for a one-dribble pull-up in the midrange. He also reports a 40-inch vertical and hopes to bring his athleticism, scoring and leadership to a college program.
That leadership includes the responsibilities that come before tipoff. Williams makes a point of encouraging teammates to arrive at practice on time and wants the people around him to have opportunities to succeed.
His motivation comes in part from two cousins. According to Williams, Dontrell Hewlett played at Sheldon before competing at the junior college and Division II levels, while Steven Richardson played in the NBA G League. Their journeys give him examples to draw from as he pursues his own basketball future.
Williams names Jaylen Brown as his favorite NBA player and the Boston Celtics as his favorite team. His routine includes watching basketball clips, working out, lifting and eating healthy as he looks for ways to improve.
Away from competition, Williams carries a 3.4 GPA and enjoys meeting new people. He also spends some of his free time helping younger players develop their skills, extending his desire to see others succeed beyond his own team.
At 17, Williams says he has been playing basketball for 12 years. His biggest dream is to reach the NBA and share that moment with the family that motivates him—especially his mother. He imagines her in the stands, proud and emotional as his name is called.
For Williams, that vision gives his basketball ambitions a deeply personal purpose.
