Folsom’s Scott Nardenelli Brings Energy, Defense, and Winning Mentality to the Next Level
For Scott Nardenelli, basketball didn’t start as something serious, it started with a love for the game.
Like many players, his early connection to basketball came from watching games on TV and playing for fun. At the time, he was also involved with soccer, even participating in AAU-style events on that side. But the more he found himself around basketball, the more his interest grew. What started casually quickly turned into something he wanted to pursue at a higher level.
That shift in mindset helped shape the player he is today.
At Folsom, Nardenelli developed into a true 3-and-D guard, a player who brings relentless energy, defensive intensity, and a high basketball IQ every time he steps on the court. His game is built around effort and consistency, especially on the defensive end, where he takes pride in making life difficult for opposing players.
Defense is where Nardenelli separates himself.
His ability to stay engaged, move his feet, and compete possession after possession makes him a valuable presence on that side of the floor. Whether it’s guarding the ball, helping in rotations, or securing rebounds, he embraces the physical and mental demands of defense. The kind of traits that directly impact winning.
But his game doesn’t stop there.
Offensively, Nardenelli has continued to evolve. Known for his ability to space the floor and knock down shots, he plays within the flow of the offense while making smart decisions. His improved finishing around the basket and understanding of when to attack versus when to move the ball highlight his growth as a complete player.
More importantly, he plays unselfish basketball.
Nardenelli understands how to contribute without needing the spotlight. He focuses on getting teammates involved, creating opportunities, and doing the little things that often go unnoticed. Setting screens, making the extra pass, and keeping the offense moving. His high IQ allows him to read the game and make the right play in the moment.
That mindset played a role in one of the biggest accomplishments of his career.
Folsom’s run through the state playoffs, which ended with a NorCal Division I Championship, stands as a defining moment. Competing at that level and coming out on top speaks not only to the team’s talent, but also to the discipline and effort players like Nardenelli brought every game.
For him, success has never been about just scoring, it’s about impact.
He stays motivated by focusing on the details: rebounding, defending, and creating opportunities for others. Those habits have helped him grow as a player and continue improving even after the season ends.
Now, Nardenelli is set to take the next step.
With his high school career complete, he will continue playing basketball at the College of the Redwoods. It’s an opportunity to keep building on the foundation he’s created
, one centered around effort, defense, and a team-first mentality.
As he transitions to the next level, Nardenelli brings the kind of traits that translate: energy, discipline, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team win.
And if his journey so far is any indication, he’s just getting started.
