For Oak Ridge High School junior Ilyana Lampe, flag football is an opportunity to compete, lead and share the field with family.
The Class of 2028 athlete has played on Oak Ridge’s varsity team for all three seasons since the school introduced the sport. A strong safety, receiver and punter, Lampe has also served as a team captain for the past two years.
Her motivation comes from a straightforward desire to improve.
“I’m motivated by my competitive mindset and desire to get better,” Lampe said.
Lampe made an impression early in her high school career, earning Oak Ridge’s Female Freshman Athlete of the Year recognition. She also received First Team All-Sierra Foothill League honors during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Her two years as captain add a leadership role to those individual accomplishments. As she continues developing across multiple positions, Lampe helps lead a team that includes her two sisters, making her experience at Oak Ridge a shared family journey.
Now in her junior season, her ambitions extend beyond high school.
“I have a passion for the sport, and I plan to continue playing in college,” she said.
With three seasons of varsity experience, consecutive first-team all-league honors and two years of captaincy, Lampe is building a career defined by commitment and competitive drive. Her next goal is to carry that passion into college football.
