Sheldon High School sophomore Jayla Woodard is establishing herself as one of the area’s most versatile young athletes. A Class of 2029 wide receiver and linebacker in girls flag football, Woodard also competes in basketball and barrel racing, bringing the same competitive mindset to everything she does.
Her production on the football field has already been significant. Woodard totaled 20 touchdowns during the 2026–27 season, has surpassed 1,110 career receiving yards and scored 108 points on touchdowns and two-point conversions. Defensively, she recorded 150 solo tackles and eight interceptions this season.
Those performances have helped Woodard earn All-Delta League recognition and, more recently, her first official college offer.
For Woodard, that milestone is only the beginning.
“My goal is to continue developing as an athlete, earn more college offers, and eventually play at the Division I level,” Woodard said. “I also want to continue excelling academically and making my family proud.”
Family is at the center of what drives her.
“My family is my biggest motivation,” she said. “My parents sacrifice so much to make sure I have the opportunities to train, compete, and chase my dreams.”
Woodard also credits her coaches for continuing to push her forward, especially Lem Adam at Game-Fit.
“He pushes me to work hard and become the best version of myself,” Woodard said.
That work ethic extends well beyond football. Woodard competes in basketball and barrel racing, experiences that have helped shape her into a multi-sport athlete with a strong competitive foundation.
“I’m a hardworking, dedicated athlete who believes in staying consistent, trusting God’s plan, and never giving up on my dreams,” Woodard said.
As she continues through her sophomore year, Woodard’s focus remains on steady development. With production on both sides of the ball, growing college interest and a commitment to academics, she is determined to keep building toward the next level while representing her family and school with pride.
