With two league MVP awards and more than 1,000 career points, John Harb has already made his mark at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. Now, the Class of 2027 point guard is pursuing another league championship and a postseason run that ends with a section title.
A member of Western Sierra’s boys varsity basketball team, Harb earned league MVP honors during both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Along the way, he surpassed the 1,000-point milestone and helped the program capture league championships, building a résumé that reflects individual achievement and team success.
Those accomplishments have given him plenty to be proud of, but his ambitions extend beyond what he has already achieved. He hopes to earn another league MVP award while helping Western Sierra advance beyond the second round of the playoffs and compete for a section championship.
At the center of those goals is his enthusiasm for competition.
“My motivating factor is the competition that comes with basketball,” Harb said. “I love being competitive with other teams and players.”
That competitive drive gives his work a clear purpose. The opportunity to test himself against opponents motivates him to improve, with the larger goal of helping his team finish on top. Another individual honor would be meaningful, but his aspirations also depend on what Western Sierra can accomplish together.
Harb’s priorities extend into the classroom. He hopes to attend a University of California campus and perform well on his Advanced Placement exams, making academic preparation an important part of his plans beyond high school.
As he continues his senior year, his goals are clearly defined: succeed academically, compete for another league title and help take Western Sierra further in the postseason. Two MVP awards and more than 1,000 points are significant milestones, and Harb is determined to add a team accomplishment that would make his final high school season especially memorable.
