For Karmynne Hazewood, her first season of traditional high school volleyball represents a new chapter in a journey that began in a local homeschool league.
The 6-foot-1 middle blocker in the Class of 2027 plays varsity volleyball at Folsom High School and will join OMNI 18 National for the upcoming club season. She brings experience competing across California and beyond, along with a goal of continuing her education and volleyball career at the collegiate level.
Homeschooled since second grade, Hazewood began playing in a local homeschool league in eighth grade. That experience took her to competitions throughout the Sacramento area, Southern California and Kansas for nationals, giving her opportunities to develop her game against different opponents.
Now, she is embracing the transition to high school volleyball and the opportunity to compete alongside her Folsom teammates.
“It has been fun transitioning to traditional high school volleyball, and being a part of such a great competitive team like FHS,” Hazewood said.
Through varsity and national club competition, Hazewood continues to work toward becoming a more well-rounded player. She wants to challenge herself, strengthen her skills and become the best teammate she can be.
Her motivation comes from seeing her effort translate into progress while recognizing there is always more to learn. Volleyball has taught her the importance of teamwork, discipline and staying committed through difficult moments.
Looking ahead, Hazewood is exploring opportunities with college programs and is grateful for the conversations underway. As she considers where volleyball might take her next, her focus remains on improving and helping her team succeed.
