Leah Harris has her college destination set, but there is still plenty she wants to accomplish at Oak Ridge High School. The Class of 2027 guard recently committed to the University of Denver and is entering her senior basketball season eager to keep growing alongside her teammates.
For Harris, Denver offered a combination of coaches she connected with, a location she loved and an opportunity to continue playing the game. She is grateful for that next step and already preparing for the challenges ahead.
After earning league MVP honors last season and All-State recognition for the playoffs, Harris wants to build on those accomplishments. Her goal is to become an impact player in college, and she is working on her physical preparation, basketball skills and, especially, her mindset.
“I want to be the best I can be, and work hard to achieve all my goals in the future,” Harris said.
Her family is a major source of motivation, along with her own desire to improve. That drive also shapes her plans beyond basketball. Harris is interested in becoming a physical therapist or sports psychologist, two paths that would allow her to remain connected to athletics while helping others reach their goals on and off the court. She looks forward to deciding which direction to pursue in college.
Before that next chapter begins, Harris wants to appreciate everything her senior year offers: time at home with her family and another season with the teammates, coaches and friends who have been part of her journey.
She is excited about what Oak Ridge can accomplish and sees the team building with each practice. With her college commitment secured, Harris is focused on preparing for her future while making the most of her final season at home.
