For Raef Fleming, a fresh start at McClatchy High School comes with a deeply personal motivation: making his family proud.
The 6-foot-1 guard recently shared that he has transferred to McClatchy, beginning a new chapter early in his high school basketball journey. A member of the Class of 2030, Fleming enters his freshman year with a strong sense of purpose and a clear understanding of who he is working for.
For those who have followed his journey, the move may come as news.
“Not a lot of people know, and this might be a great way to let people know,” Fleming said of sharing his transfer with the Sacramento Sports Tribune.
While the school has changed, his motivation remains rooted in family. Asked what pushes him, Fleming offered a direct answer.
“Something that motivates me is knowing I gotta make it for my family,” he said. “I don’t have a plan B.”
Those words reflect how much his basketball aspirations mean to him. As he begins this next stage at McClatchy, Fleming carries ambitions that extend beyond his own success. His family is central to the future he hopes to build.
With his high school career just beginning, Fleming has time to develop his game and establish his place at his new school. For now, his message is clear: a new chapter at McClatchy, with family at the heart of his pursuit.
