Riley Baumann is building experience on both sides of the line at Oak Ridge High School, with goals that stretch from the varsity field to Division I football.
The sophomore in the Class of 2029 plays center and defensive end, earning starting roles on both offense and defense for Oak Ridge’s junior varsity team. Baumann points to starting both ways as an accomplishment, taking on responsibilities that require him to contribute in two different phases of the game.
Defensively, Baumann has recorded seven tackles and two tackles for loss. His work at defensive end complements his role at center, giving him experience both protecting the offense and trying to disrupt opposing plays.
His next goal is clear: earn a varsity starting position for his junior and senior seasons. Beyond high school, Baumann hopes to continue his football career at a Division I college. He also has a team ambition that drives him—a varsity state championship.
Behind those goals is a strong support system. Baumann credits his family and friends with encouraging him to keep improving.
“They always push me to my full potential and support me no matter what,” Baumann said.
With starting experience on both sides of the ball, Baumann is working toward the opportunity to make his mark at the next level of Oak Ridge football.
