For Robert Holguin, every practice and every snap is an opportunity to improve. The Folsom High School sophomore is building his presence at defensive end, bringing determination and steady ambition to the Bulldogs’ defensive line.
Holguin has recorded 1.5 sacks and a half tackle for loss so far this season. His pursuit and effort have helped him create pressure, and he is focused on continuing to sharpen his skills as he gains experience.
His ambitions stretch beyond high school football. Holguin hopes to play college football at the University of Texas, a goal that gives purpose to the work he puts in each day. He describes himself as a hard worker committed to improving his craft, understanding that progress requires consistency long before game night arrives.
Behind that commitment are the people who matter most to him. Holguin credits his family and those closest to him as his biggest sources of motivation. Their support gives him another reason to push himself and make the most of his opportunities on the field.
Away from football, Holguin has an interest that adds another dimension to his story: cooking. He considers himself a talented cook, offering a glimpse of the person beyond the helmet and shoulder pads.
With the rest of his sophomore season and two more high school seasons ahead, Holguin has time to develop his game and build on his early contributions. His focus remains on earning that progress day by day, helping Folsom’s defense while working toward his dream of playing at the next level.
