For Casa Roble High School’s Sameah Johnson, flag football is an opportunity to build a future her family can be proud of and set an example for those following in her footsteps.
The Class of 2030 inside receiver enters her high school journey with a clear sense of purpose. As a freshman, Johnson is focused on improving her game while becoming someone her younger family members can look up to.
“My goal is to make something out of myself, make my family proud, and prove that all of my hard work is paying off,” Johnson said.
That desire gives her goals meaning beyond her own success. Johnson wants the younger members of her family to see what dedication can accomplish, using her pursuit of flag football to demonstrate the value of working toward something meaningful.
“What motivates me the most is my younger family members because I want to be someone they can look up to and show them that hard work and dedication can help you reach your goals,” she said.
With her high school career just beginning, Johnson sees plenty of room to grow. Her focus is on pushing herself, continuing to learn, and developing both as an athlete and as a person.
“I want to keep getting better, pushing myself, and becoming the best athlete and person I can be,” Johnson said.
For the Casa Roble freshman, the future holds possibilities she is eager to explore. Wherever flag football takes her, the motivation behind her journey is already clear: make her family proud and give the next generation someone to believe in.
