For Uzziah Jayden Radrokai, basketball carries the support of his family, pride in his Fijian roots, and a belief that his opportunities have a purpose.
The Class of 2028 point guard at Luther Burbank High School has built a résumé that includes representing Fiji in FIBA competition, three years of varsity basketball, and four appearances at Phenom camps. His accomplishments also include first-team all-defensive recognition. Behind those achievements is a young athlete who remembers the challenges that shaped his confidence.
Radrokai says he was bullied when he was younger for his weight and his basketball ability. Through those experiences, his father remained a steady source of encouragement, training him and helping him improve.
“My family has always supported me every day since I first started playing basketball,” Radrokai said. “He was always there for me and helped me no matter what.”
That support continues to motivate him. He also credits his mother for the time and effort she puts into helping him pursue his goals. For Radrokai, every step forward reflects the people who have stood beside him.
At Luther Burbank, his ambitions begin with his teammates. He wants to help bring home a section championship this season and pursue a state title. Individually, he hopes to earn the opportunity to play college basketball while studying engineering.
Faith guides how he approaches that future. Although there are numerous schools he would love to attend, Radrokai says he is willing to embrace whichever opportunity God provides.
His dreams also extend to international basketball. Having represented Fiji, he hopes to one day help the men’s national team win gold on the world stage—a goal rooted in pride in the country he represents.
Away from competition, Radrokai maintains a 3.6 GPA and has earned honor roll and leadership recognition. He has also worked as a mentor for children at basketball camps and coaches his own team, sharing the lessons he continues to learn.
Those responsibilities give his journey meaning beyond his own performance. He knows how much encouragement can matter to a young player because he experienced it himself.
As Radrokai continues his career at Luther Burbank, his goals remain connected: grow as a player, help his teammates succeed, pursue an education, and give back through the game. His story is still developing, with family, faith, and a commitment to others at its center.
