Valerie Neeland is beginning her high school journey with a strong bat and a clear goal for her future. The Folsom High School freshman competes for Team California, bringing a .529 batting average and an ambition to play college softball.
A member of the Class of 2030, Neeland plays catcher and utility, giving her opportunities to contribute at multiple positions. Her batting average is a standout part of her profile, but her goals extend beyond what she accomplishes at the plate.
Neeland wants to continue growing as both a player and a leader. As she works toward the college level, becoming someone her teammates can count on is an important part of the athlete she hopes to become. For her, development means building her softball skills while also learning how to lead.
Her parents, coaches and teammates provide the motivation behind those goals. Neeland credits the people around her with inspiring her to keep improving and pursuing the next step in her softball career.
With her high school years just beginning, Neeland has time to develop and plenty to work toward. Her focus is clear: keep growing, become a stronger leader and turn her goal of playing college softball into an opportunity.
