After more than seven weeks away from the field due to injury, Destiny Christian Academy’s Zion Ditmore is back and ready to make an impact.
The 6-foot, 210-pound athlete brings versatility to both sides of the football, contributing at running back, linebacker and tight end. This past week marked Ditmore’s first game action since returning from his injury, something he says he is extremely grateful for.
For Ditmore, however, football is about more than what happens between the lines.
“Above everything, Jesus is the center of my life, and I try to represent Him through how I play, lead, and carry myself,” Ditmore said.
His production on the field has been equally noteworthy. Last season, Ditmore rushed for 540 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 40 carries, averaging an impressive 13.5 yards per attempt.
Now healthy and back with his teammates, Ditmore is looking forward to taking on an expanded role this season. But individual statistics aren’t his primary focus.
“I’m excited to take on a bigger role this year, but more than anything, I just want to do whatever my team needs to win,” Ditmore said. “We have a really talented group with threats all over the field, and I’m excited for what we can accomplish together.”
With his combination of size, versatility and production, Ditmore gives Destiny Christian Academy a valuable weapon as the season moves forward. After spending more than seven weeks on the sideline, he now has an opportunity to help his team make the most of the games ahead.
