SACRAMENTO SPORTS TRIBUNE | October 12, 2026
For Zion Jamison, being a student-athlete means more than showing up on game day. The Sacramento Charter High School sophomore is building a name for himself through football, basketball, academic excellence, and entrepreneurship. As a member of the Class of 2028, Jamison is already working toward a future that extends well beyond high school.
On the football field, Jamison brings the kind of versatility that allows him to contribute wherever his team needs him. Playing linebacker, defensive end, tight end, fullback, and offensive tackle, he understands the responsibilities of multiple positions. His production reflects that commitment, with an average of seven tackles per game and 40 total tackles recorded last season.
Jamison also plays basketball, balancing two sports while continuing to develop his abilities as an athlete.
But there’s another side to his story that deserves just as much attention.
In the classroom, Jamison maintains an impressive 4.0 GPA, establishing himself as a high-achieving scholar. He’s also involved in student union, demonstrating a commitment to his school community that goes beyond academics and athletics.
Outside of school, Jamison has developed another skill that sets him apart. He’s a known high school barber in the Sacramento area, building a reputation for his work while gaining firsthand experience in entrepreneurship. It’s an interest that connects directly to his long-term ambitions.
Jamison hopes to receive offers from colleges and universities, continue competing at the next level, and pursue an education focused on sports and entrepreneurship. His goal isn’t simply to become a better athlete. He wants to create opportunities for himself in multiple areas of life.
A major part of that motivation comes from his family. Their influence continues to push him forward, but Jamison also draws motivation from recognizing his own mistakes and finding ways to correct them.
Rather than focusing only on what he’s accomplished, he looks at what he can improve.
That willingness to learn has become an important part of his approach, whether he’s preparing for a football game, handling his responsibilities in the classroom, or developing his skills as a barber.
What excites Jamison most is the opportunity to discover what his future can become. With college ambitions ahead of him, he understands that the work he puts in today can help shape the opportunities available to him tomorrow.
At Sacramento Charter High School, Zion Jamison is creating his own path through athletics, academics, leadership, and business.
For Jamison, success isn’t about choosing between sports, education, and entrepreneurship. It’s about working toward all three and seeing just how far his dedication can take him.
